Guatemala, Life After Genocide

James Rodriguez

Acul, Nebaj, 2017

In the reading it describes a time of healing, due to being able to remember those who were lost. Thousands of people went unidentified and now are able to be accurately identified. Although it is a time of healing, the image content of the two people carrying a casket conveys a time of sorrow and loss. The dog, that is sniffing the ground also shows the numbness that may be a general feeling that everyone is feeling due to losing so many people.
