Benjina, Hear me Roar

Hear me Roar

Jeanie Michna-BalesĀ – A Lesson in Astronomy, Southern Kentucky. From the series Through Darkness to Light: Seeking Freedom on the Underground Railroad – 2014

This photograph drew my attention in particular because of how different it was from the others. One difference that it has is that it is one of the darkest photos in terms of lighting compared to the other photographs. It is so dark that the threes that appear to be the subject of the photo look like silhouettes or shadows. Another difference is the perspective of the photograph. All the other photos appear to be centered, while this one in particular is facing upwards, with the camera looking up, seeming to show a human perspective against the tree since trees have an extreme height difference compared to humans, so humans would have to look up. Overall, this is an excellent, beautiful photograph, and portrays the sky, stars and its harmony with nature perfectly.
