Black Lives Matter

This photo was taken during the black lives matter movement in quarantine. Ethiopia Berta can be seen in the photo with her hand raised as she fights against the closing of Democrasy Prep Public Charter School in Washington D.C. This photo for me is effective because of the symbolic black lives matter symbol composed directly in the middle of the frame. This highlights the importance of the message. The black in white palette works as a metaphor for the movement. It also keeps from all of the distracting colors. The star flare behind her also gives us a sense of hope, something that fits with the narrative.
