“The Last Resort” 1983-85 by Martin Parr
Martin Parr’s photograph, titled “The Last Resort”, is an example of long depth of field used within a shot. The photo shows four subjects, each further away from the camera than the one in front, and each is in focus. Alongside the subjects, the flowers and décor that sit in between the front and rear subjects are also in focus. The lighting throughout the piece keeps a nice constant and does not diminish in light or blurriness as it recedes. By using this higher aperture value setting, Parr was able to capture equal representation of the four separate people in this photo.
This is a good example of long depth of field – sharp focus throughout and consistent lighting.
