Stephanie Sinclair is a photojournalist for National Geographic and the founder of the nonprofit Too Young To Wed, which aims to protect girls’ rights and end child marriage.
In the “Too Young To Wed” section of her website, Sinclair’s specific photo of the girl being taken to her wedding, where she is visibly sobbing is very effective in communicating the message because it is clear that these young girls are being forced into marriage when they are still vulnerable children. This collection of photographs shows the country’s current state after the devasting earthquake and goes to show the young girls during a normal day but then are forced into these marriages because of the family’s economic state.
