I found a video documentary and picture to showcase the social injustice of the killings of innocent black people in America. In the video documentary, it shows the names of the many lives killed recently, with hundreds of thousands of people coming together to protest against the murder of the lives of innocent black people. What makes the work effective in communicating its message is how you can see everyone coming together, people who are neighbors, even coming together for big moments such as a wedding or an engagement during these protests, so that you can see the unity and strong force within the black community. In terms of the picture of the girl holding the sign “my life matters”, this communicates the message of stopping the killing of black people by appealing to the emotions of the people looking at the picture. This girl is in elementary school, at best, and her innocence is taken away from her since she is scared of the police shooting and/or killing her simply due to her race, something that she cannot control, and something that has been a reality for a lot of black children for hundreds of years in America.
This is a well-written summary of the message behind the image and a well-chosen image for the message.
