I chose this image because the angle caught my eye at first. Unlike everyday photography, this image was taken at a sort of awkward angle, almost as if the photographer is running or moving with the woman in the photograph. This adds to the overall hastiness of the woman in the photograph, because the photo seems rushed. Although the angle is off-center, we still get the subject in clear focus, and the environment around her. The diagonal lines created by the photo angle create a feeling of confidence in the subject’s step that may be relevant to the societal movements at the time, especially since the photograph is titled “Women Art Better Than Men. Not Only Have They Survived, They Prevail”.
