Bodies of Knowledge

Geno Rodriguez, Puerto Rican – American b. 2940. Dream, 1985

Describe the camera angle, proximity and framing, depth of field, content and composition.

The camera angle is top-down. We are observing this interplay between the two unlikely subjects. The proximity of the subjects are almost uncanny as they are about to touch. The subjects are also in the center of the frame with a little bit of leeway to the right almost to suggest that this was not posed but found in this way. There isn’t a lot of depth happening between the subjects and the background. It is weird to see this type of lizard near a human. It almost feels prehistoric compared to the modernness of human and ribbon. Lastly, the colors were an interesting choice as they are very contrasty yet all have a warm tone to them. This brings everything that is unlikely together.
