Sebastiao Salgado: Salgado contributed a lot to documentary photography. After he finished studying economics he decided to stop working as an investment banker and to start doing free lance photography. He would travel to different countries and photograph people who were either working or in poverty. He did so in a way that did not portray these people as heros but as strong.

Robert Capa: Capa contributed photos of war and armies to photo journalism. He spent time working in a darkroom and then made a worked out of a dark room of his own. He moved from Germany to Paris. He took photos of the civil war and after that he went on to take freelance photos of the US Army and other allies that the US had. After this he decided to photograph the scene at Normandy and other events. And then he joined another photography agency that sent him to photograph the scenes of Israel declaring dependance and the surrounding activity.
