Charles Moore Photographer: Civil Rights Movement

O’Neill, C. (2010, March 16). Charles Moore, photographer of the Civil Rights Movement, dies at 79. NPR. https://www.npr.org/sections/pictureshow/2010/03/charles_moore.html/

This photo is of Martin Luther King Jr. at a rally on the steps of the Alabama state capitol, in Montgomery. This photo is so effective because of both the angle and pose of MLK. It is a powerful angle that is facing upward creating a ‘larger than life’ scale of him. MLK is also crossing his arms which gives us a sense of seriousness. I think this is an incredible image that does a great job of capturing the significant and pressing Civil Rights Movement that he is fighting for.
