Tilt-Shift

The title and source of this photo is unknown however the link to the site is: https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2008/11/beautiful-examples-of-tilt-shift-photography/

Tilt-shift photography is a technique where someone manipulates the camera so that a life sized subject or scene looks as if it is in a minature scale. It works by moving the position of your lens while keeping the image sensor in and as well. The lens plane rotates, creating a tilt, and other movements of the lens place creates a shift. This technique also simulates a shallow depth of field and when the tilt occurs around the vertical axis of the frame, a small region of the photo appears in sharp view.

The photo that stuck out to me in this article was one of grand central Terminal. This photo captured the technique very well because it is a very recognizable location that one can tell how this photo may be a real life scenario, however the tilt-shift lens effectively turned the picture into what looks like a miniature model. The sharpness of the lower center portion of the photo does a really cool job of adding that shallow depth of field that helps translate this effect even more.
