What assignment did you learn the most from in Art 07?
I learned and grew as a photographer from every assignment, I believe my work has progressed throughout the semester. I have a better understanding of photography and taking/creating creative images through photography and photo editing. One project that stands out the most is street photography. Specifically, I was focused on the view from my lens I was able to capture people, buildings, and transportation through another view. A quote from Jerry Uelsmann, “My creative process begins when I get out with the camera and interact with the world. A camera is truly a license to explore. There are no uninteresting things. There are just uninterested people. For me to walk around the block where I live could take 5 minutes. But when I have a camera, it could take five hours. You just engage in the world differently. If you can get to a point where you respond emotionally, not intellectually, with your camera there’s a whole world to encounter. There’s a lot of source material once you have the freedom of not having to complete an image at the camera,” Uelsmann said in a 2007 interview with Shutterbug Magazine. This quote resonates with me for I was able to take a creative exploration around Pittsburgh and hone in on the small details of the large city.
What would you add to this course? What would you delete to make room for your addition?
A lot of the projects depend on editing and photoshopping images, for people who are not experienced in Photoshop I feel there should be more of a focus on photo editing and photo layering.
