Assignments

I learned the most from the book assignment – as an already proficient photographer, curating my work was the hardest part of the project. Learning to cut down about 1000 photos into 80 was a very difficult task. In addition to just cutting down, I had to make sure that my creative vision was still clear with the selection of photos I decided to include. I wanted to include every photo that I liked, but in order to keep the book cohesive I had to cut some out. In addition, I learned that some photos I don’t really see as my best works can really shine if sequenced next to the right scenes.

Personally, I think that the course would benefit from a unit where each photograph had to be taken at the same focal length – no zooming. I think this would force the shooters to be more creative & find unique angles to capture their photographs rather than using the zoom lens as a crutch. I would get rid of the purple fringe & the high-pass sharpening for this.
