Lori Nix’s photograph Subway depicts a New York City subway car in a desert, where nature is slowly reclaiming the train. The use of miniatures really helps the surrealist tone of this photograph, as the brain registers it is not real as well as the rest of the scene. This creates a feeling of uneasiness amongst the image, which benefits the frame. The postapocalyptic scene stacked alongside the general fake tone of the scene make the viewer borderline nervous – a perfect emotion for this photo.
