Tips for improved shooting through lighting

This article gives twelve tips for ways to improve indoor shooting through natural lighting. The twelve ways you can improve lighting: use of windows, turn off lights, adjust your aperture, choose your white balance in advance, use of a backdrop, light-box, reflector, mirror, cleaning up surrounding objects, subject close to a window, curtains, and use of reflective objects. Now a deeper dive into what I listed above. First using windows can improve the amount of light let into the room. Natural light can provide a variety of colors warm and cool depending on the time of day. Turning off the lights enhances natural lighting and can eliminate shadows created by artificial lighting. Aperture priority mode adjusts your shutter speed and gives you the flexibility of your exposure. Choosing your white balance in advance can save time in editing, the example used is “I generally use Daylight for indoor portrait photography.'” The use of a light-catching backdrop can maximize your lighting by reflecting light back onto your subject. A light box is a similar tool on a smaller scale and in a more controlled setting, the cloth is placed all around the subject rather than just behind it. A reflector does exactly what it sounds like and reflects light back onto your subject. The use of a mirror can get rid of the reflection’s in the picture. Placing your model close to a window is key for natural lighting, the use of curtains can direct what direction the light goes or to diffuse the light.
